Chain cleaner dissolves old lubricant, road grit and metal particles from between chain links and around sprocket teeth before re-lubing, essential for proper lubricant adhesion and chain longevity. Using chain lube on a dirty chain traps abrasive grit inside the rollers and accelerates wear dramatically.
