Elbow guards protect against the impact and abrasion injuries that happen when riders instinctively extend their arms in a fall. While jackets with built-in elbow armour provide basic coverage, standalone elbow guards worn over or under the jacket sleeve upgrade protection significantly. The Bike Yard Kenya stocks CE Level 1 and Level 2 elbow guards from Alpinestars, Fox Racing and Leatt, in hard-shell and soft D3O-type materials. Soft guards are more comfortable for extended wear and can be worn directly against the skin under a jersey for off-road riding. Prices run from KES 1,800 for basic hard-shell guards to KES 8,500 for premium CE Level 2 soft-insert sets.
